Workshop on “Capacity building in management of nature protected areas”

In order to strengthen the capacities for the development of ecotourism in the Danube region, promotion of natural resources and biodiversity and enhancing pre-conditions for cross-border cooperation, representatives of the Camping Association of Serbia have implemented two capacity build workshops in November 2012  in partnership with the Fruska Gora National Park and Djerdap National Park.

Workshop with representatives of Nature Protected Areas with the potential for cross-border cooperation with Croatia was held from 7th to 9th November in cooperation with the Provincial Institute for Nature Conservation while gathering with NPAs of the region with potential for cross-border cooperation with Romania was held in Donji Milanovac, Djerdap National Park from 13th to 15th November.

Topics presented during the both workshops were basis and application of the principles of ecotourism in practice with potentials and opportunities for the development of tourism in protected areas and their surroundings. The Danube Strategy is presented as a basis for macro-region of the European Union and cross-border cooperation Programmes of European Union and other forms of cooperation were presented in order to promote international cooperation between Nature Protected Areas.

Follow up activities are expected in February 2013 within the anticipated implementation of three-day regional training seminar on the development of ecotourism products applicable in the Danube region.

Project activities are implemented with the support of the Danube Competence Center (DCC) and the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GIZ).
